#57 Both Katniss and Peeta reminded Haymitch of himself before the first arena. Like Katniss, he had been strong-willed to the point of stubborn, intelligent and he had very little interest in interacting with people he didn’t know. Like Peeta, however, he had been in love with the same girl since he was a small child – but the difference was that he told her a few weeks before the reaping. When she had had come to say goodbye to him, the only thing she had said to him was: “Stay alive”. And so he did.
